I have been outsourcing my page designs for some time now, and am wondering if I am paying too much. I am thinking of possibly hiring a part/full time graphic artist, and am weighing out the options.
I am horrible at thinking of design, but have a good eye for it, and am very proficient with Photshop and the like. Generally the designer will give me one or two .psd files, with the design finished, and I go about tweaking it a bit, and the slicing and dicing for the HTML portion.
So here are the two questions:
What is normal for a small company that puts out around 2-5 sites a month? Outsource, or P/T internal?
*If this is against forum policy, ignore, but since its about what to pay people, not what WE charge, I hope its okay.*
What is the normal rate per job (if outsourced) and avg. hourly (if internal P/T) that designers usually get?
Hopefully someone will have some insight on this. Check the portfolio for some of my nicer looking sites, and you will see the quality I am trying to achieve on every project.
TIA!
