What do you mean by for every section, create an actual site? Thanks by the way. mackmadden 12-01-2008, 11:22 PM Also, can you please elaborate on how the colors affected you? What about the colors seems distrusting? Thanks for the help. jvanamali 12-04-2008, 10:09 AM Hi I am not designer, just a web developer, but was going through your site and thought the following changes might make your site better 1 - The green used does not look like a general web color and doesnot seem to go with the site. 2 - i am seeing your site in a resolution of 1024*768 and i see a bit of horizontal scroll ,which should be eliminated for better viewing. 3 - The search text box is too big and may a search btn would look better with an image and may be with a advanced search link, The header also looks too plain 4 - The header just below the logo with all the images with no links, may be a javascript or flash banner that runs through all the all categories randomly or in an order with a link would be better. 5 - For the left menu you can use a accordion panel as   suggested to make all the categories visible and make the user select the category he wants. You need to change the colours of accordion to suit your website. http://nettuts.s3.amazonaws.com/015_Accordion/accordion-final.html 6 - You can use the same accordion to the main content area in home page for Recommended, featured, whatsshopping etc sections. That makes the page scroll less and more readable. or you may try split the site different subsites as   suggested which lets the user to easily go the product he need In the home page the user might select the category , you can design the page some thing similar lines to this http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/22023.html You can divide sections into Electronics (Which consits of Electronics,Video Games, computers etc as subctegories), Books,DVDs, Mens,Women,Teens and Kids etc or any other way that you want to divide the products. Try to keep it to 5 or 6 so that the user can easily choose the category which wants to go to. Then in the subsite he can choose the the sub category, this way he can find the category much more easily. maybe that helps   12-04-2008, 11:05 AM //I see. What do you mean by for every section, create an actual site? Thanks by the way. // oh, sry if that sounced confusing, i meant like for e.g. on the nav bar on the left side, you could remove the browse by section, people are lazy, and they would hate to scroll all the way to the bottom, not actually knowing that if they hit the actual section at the top, it will redirect them to subsections when they hit the lets say mens section. If that still sounds confusing, keep replying and I will keep trying to help. Also if you want to choose from an array of color schemes, check this site out for ideas. :D http://kuler.adobe.com/ Ness_du_Frat 12-06-2008, 07:41 AM Yeah, I agree with what has been said about the menu being too long, and the browse by section, not really usefull. Why not let people click on the section name and then, you develop the section ? The accordion idea suggested by jvanamali seems nice and appropriate. About the colors : I like them. What is disturbing you people about green and orange ? But be consistent and use one shade of green, not a shade of green for the menu and another shade of green in the main menu bar (home, see all departments, etc). The color gradation is nice, but the darkest green should be the one you're using for the list menu on the left. I don't like the fact that the headers in orange (recommended products, etc.) are so pixellised. Why use an image when it's so simple to have normal text with a background-color ? webdeveloper.com
