HI all,

I have been coding for a while now. I have CSS and HTML mostly under control.

Now I would like to learn about the 'Technology 101' behind the web. The sort of stuff that helps understand random issues.

What is the sort of stuff they would teach you in the beginning of an Web Design certificate/degree?

What is a DNS server?
What are the common errors returned?
How does all of it work together

I am sorry I can't be more specific, but I don't really know what the technology behind the web is.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards
Alf...

You probably should start by learning about the server, and server-side languages. A lot of that stuff will come under server-side languages, and you'll probably learn a lot by accident that way. I'm not certain what exactly you want, but you probably should look into HTTP (the whole basis of the web in a manner of speaking), and TCP/IP.

Hi Declan,

I started with what you suggested and followed the links from there...

I got a lot of information and have increased my knowledge quite considerably.

I am sure I have missed something, but am in a better position now.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Alf.
