Hi

I want to include Konqueror in my browser tests and would like advise on the best way to do this as I dont have a linux instal and dont really wish to dual boot on my PC

I have access to a G4 and I develop on XP. I currently test in Safari on Windows and Mac and am led to believe this is the same engine as Konqueror - is this right?

I also run virtual machines on Xp for Ie 6 and 7 and am wondering if I can run a virtual machine for Konqueror on my Pc?

Thanks in advance for replies

Hi -

You have a few options, but be sure to know Konqueror isn't exactly the same engine or browser as Safari, at least not anymore. The two code paths split a while back, to KHTML (Konqueror) and WebKit (Safari, Chrome, and Others).

In windows, you could install KDE for Windows through the CGYWin Project: http://kde-cygwin.sourceforge.net/. It's not super stable yet, but it's worked for me, and lets you run a variety of KDE applications inside of Windows (natively).

The other option is to run a virtual machine of a KDE-based Linux Desktop, like KUbuntu: http://www.kubuntu.org/. It runs great in a Virtual Machine.

You can always check your site for appearance as per rendered, at

http://browsershots.org/

great for X-platform/X-browser checks. Won't tell you what is wrong, if the site 'looks bad', but you can get a pretty good hint as to how it will look..
