I've never made a webpage before, well...I made this last year (never finished it)...
http://www.artistcollaboration.com/~doubled/home.html
Aqua, I know.
Anyway, I was thinking about making a real site this time around...this style http://www.artistcollaboration.com/users/doubled/mylife.html
(I only spent an hour or two so far, so don't be picky)...is this an okay way to go? I'm trying to cut down on trial and error- any advice would be much appreciated. I'm only 17- this is more or less a personal music site for some of my friends to see, nonetheless, I'm trying to learn the tools of the trade. Feel free to email me...

Thanks,

Did you get all the code from Photoshop too? You can break that out of tables and into CSS with <divs>. I would use the images as background image for the various divs and get rid of the absolute positioning the Photoshop puts them out in.
I am in the process of "customizing" a temlate for a customer that was made in Photoshop. I am convering it to XHTML and CSS.......
Look at the output settings in Photoshop.

Dreamweaver. How can I achieve this without a table and how would doing so benefit me? Thanks.

You post the whole uncut image or zip up the psd you have and attach it or email it to me and in a few I'll post you back XHTML and CSS and then you can see the diffeence.
All you are going to do now is make a more complex table layout everytime you want to add anything to that page, be it text or other images.
You can do your whole menu in CSS and not have a bit of javascript on your page at all for anything.

Ok. I can do it. I got the top image from your images folder. Give me a bit and I'll post an attachment zip with everything in it for you.

I didn't get to it right away. About 45 minutes after I did though I came up with the attached folder for you.
Unstuff it onto you desktop and use your browser to open the image.html file and take a look.
I only tested it in Netscape 7 on my MAC and it does work for me.
Let me know if ther are any problems or questions. If it does not render right in IE a screen shot would be good.

I'll stick with whatever it is now...I know your version has its benefits, but it doesn't show up properly in explorer or safari, so actually its easier not to deal with those problems than move things around. Any other ideas, layout/design-wise? What should I do for the rest of the page, for example? Thanks!

Show me a screen shot. It will take you less time to do that for me than it did for me to that for you. I would like to see what is wrong because a very little tweaking may be all it needs.
