He needs to check his email. The vBulletin software used for the forums requires verification of everyone's email address.
When you register, an email is sent to your inbox. You have to reply to activate the account. Only then can you begin posting.
By the way, it will give him a default password. He can change that using the User CP to something he's more likely to remember.

He said he never got the e-mail though, he's been waiting about 4 days for it.

Another email was sent to him to the email address listed in the profile.
The profile indicates the account was not yet activated -- awaiting email confirmation.

OK, thanks. If he still can't get in I'll let you know, but he did say he checked the e-mail adress he gave, and it was right so hopefully it will work now.
