Starting an Online Business

Hey Everybody,

My friend wants to start an online jewelry website where she will be selling jewelry. She is located in Miami.

Has anyone ever done this? Do you have to register as a business?

Anyone have some advice or good articles that you could recommend?

She could start by checking Miami's municipal website for criteria regarding needing a business license (or calling the local business license office with general questions. It would probably also be a good idea to check the Florida state website (or calling their offices) for merchant info regarding collecting/paying tax and such. I would think by now most places have info about web-based businesses and such obligations, especially a big city like Miami, but ya never know....
