Hi everyone,

I have a problem. I hired a developer on elance to build me a simple small website. I paid them and they developed 90% of the site.

For the past two months I have been trying to contact them and they have many excuses and have not done any work on the site in two months. When I hired them, three months ago, they did most of the work, but as of now nothing. I'm in the USA and they are in Russia. I have been trying to contact them for the past month and a half and they don't respond. Just last week I called them and they gave me another excuse and never got back to me.

I told them to just send me the files and I would have another company finish the site and they don’t respond and elance has now terminated their account for ripping off people. Seems they have done the same thing to a lot of others that hired them.

Can anyone tell if there is any way to copy the files from the web so I don't have to pay someone to start everything from scratch?

At this point I don't want to lose anymore time, let alone money.

I have a link to a beta site they have up and a link and a log in to the administration panel for the site, but I don't know if that is enough to salvage anything.

I REALLY need your guys and gals help. Any advice will be appreciated. I know most developers are good people, but these guys are not.

Please help!

If the login info for the admin panel is the same info for access the server via ftp then you should be able to download the files with an ftp program.

You could also search for site ripping software. Though a slightly shady genre of software, in your case it would be a legit use.

Also, never pay a contractor the full amount before they deliver a product. Any contractor. ;)

Really though, that completely sucks.
