please can any body help.

i am an amateur web designer and i am designing a web site for a band. i need to know how to fade an image out using photoshop.

so basically can any one help me. i need to fade the edges of an image using Adboe Photoshop 7.0

Fade it how? Fade it into a background? Can you attach the pic? There are several ways to "fade" a pic and depending on what you mean by "fade", there is going to be a little different process.

if you mean 'feathering' the edges to create a sort of vignette, then one way to do it is:
select the Rectangular Marquee tool, then in the little box that appears in the horizontal tool bar at the top, enter a number in the Feather box. (the amount will depend on the size of the image and the amount of fade that you need - just experiment). If you then invert the selection (Select>Inverse), you can fill the edge with your background colour, or delete it away.

sorry! missed a step...

once you've entered your Feather amount, then draw a rectangle with the marquee tool that's a bit smaller than the image you're fading, and then invert the selection!
