Please take note.

This application is popping up on lots of my friends computers and telling them that they have a pirated copy of a genuine installed system.

As all the people I know have purchased from a reputable dealership like DELL Direct, Packard Bell, HP or PC World, this I find hard to believe and would say that this is more of an attempt to generate revenue by spreading panic by Micro$haft.

So heads up, set your restore points and strap in, this may be another global ****-up by Micro$crewup.

While I can understand the idea behind Windows Genuine Advantage in theory, it should err on the side of caution, which it most certainly doesn't.

And for anyone interested wine under linux passed the windows genuine test, so if you want to dualboot and mess about a bit you can pretend to be legit even if you aren't, kinda takes the fun out of installing windows then though (everyone loves the "Which will break my system first, windows or virii" game, I know people who've been playing for over 13 years) :P

Or, use something line VirtualBox on Linux, works beautiful for those apps that can't run under Wine (though most do).
