Password Protection. Please Help Me

I am currently building a website which i want people to have to join and get a password before they can access the full content of the site but i havent got a clue how to do it. Would someone that knows what they're doing please help me

I would suggest posting in the CGI or PHP sections here since server-side technology will generally be required to do something like this. You can get a lot of pre-built scripts here (http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/User_Authentication/) that have the functionality that you're looking for.
