Hi,
I am working with a client who wants to add some of their own videos to their website and make them easy to download for the viewer.
How would I make the videos where they can be downloaded?
Thanks!

By downloaded do you mean download and watch the video on a Web page or are you talking downloading the entire video onto a viewers machine and then playing it back on that machines media player, not on a Web page?
By easy to download do you mean quick to download or just that the navigation or "click here to download or play" is easy to find and operate?
If speed is the issue, the bitrate of the video will determine how fast the video should be downloaded without having to wait for "video buffering". The Internet connection speed for each viewer must be at least 33% greater than the video movie bitrate in order to avoid excessive buffering delays. And even then, other local Internet traffic can cause slowdowns. So a Internet connection speed may have to be 2 or 3 times the movie bitrate. Since large video sites like YouTube have no control over the viewers Internet connection speed, the only thing they can control is the movie bitrate...so they keep it pretty low, around 250kbps. Fine, except that results in pretty poor quality video...but it does download at a reasonable speed.

If you are just getting into making videos, I would suggest Adobe Premier Elements or iMovie for the Mac. These are entry level programs, very resonably priced. If you want to start at the top, then go for Adobe Premier Pro or Final Cut Pro, but be prepared to pay top dollar.
There are also a few free or shareware programs like Virtual Dub, for basic editing.
Which ever you choose, check the specs to see that it can produce a video in the final format that you require.
