How can I get rid of the Desktop popups that are like from telemarketer people???

ad ware doesnt cause these, ad ware is just spyware like that stuff that you get form kazaa and comet cursors etc.... Those popups are on his machine are because of msmsger. We are talking about the grey square alert box looking things with the ads correct? It is a program built into all nt operating systems (I think all nt but maybe just xp) Go into msconfig and turn it off at startup. It should be in there, and I think thats how I got rid of it. If that does not get rid of it ill post back. To get rid of ad ware, go to www.lavasoft.de and download ad-aware. It is free and all, it searches your comp for spyware quarantines it and then deletes it.

It could also be spyware which AdWare removes. Running AdWare definitely won't hurt.

Another thing to do is stay away from MSN, Hotmail, etc. Everyone I support who visits these sites, and especially those who use them as home pages for their browsers (IE, naturally) has the same problem.
