looking for a program to display thumbs of pictures

hi,
i need a free software to list with thumbs all pictures png,jpg etc that exist in some directory, i know the explorer of windows do that but the problem is that the pictures is saved in a external hd and because of that the explorer blocks some time to display all thumbs so i looking for a alternative of windows explorer.
any sugestion?
