Hey all,

I just uploaded the BETA code for the new http://svidgen.com/.

I'm looking for any input on the design (which is intentionally clean and simple) and the concept.

Also, I still consider this to be in the BETA stages, since I haven't worked out some of the scalability (and possibly general performance) issues yet. That in mind, new accounts are accepted by invitation only--so I can monitor performance levels under pseudocontrolled growth. So, if anyone is interested in signing up and giving some feedback (or just enjoying the site), please message me with an email address and I'll send you an invite.

I literally just uploaded the new code--so I'm currently the only user.

And no ... I won't spam you if you're kind enough to accept an email invitation.

Thanks,

The interface looks pretty neat and clean, exactly what you want. I like it that way too! Nothing too busy, clean and precise.

Good work!

I, too, am all in favor of a simple, clean user interface. But it's not very clear to me what your site does when I look at the home page. Until your site becomes more well known, I wonder if you need to sacrifice a little white space on your home page and make a brief statement about what your site is about.

Pete

@ahk2chan
Thanks.

@peterbk
Thanks for the tip. I'll put a blurb on the main page next time I'm working on the site.

The site has been updated a little bit. You can now create an account for yourself by sending yourself an "invitation."

Any more thoughts on this site would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It's funny, on delicious, reddit, etc, I look at the username of the person submitting a link, even though it doesn't really matter ... I kind of miss it on svidgen. When I submit a link and the entry has my name beside it, there's an impact on my reputation if I submit junk, so possibly you get better submissions that way. Or, possibly, no-one cares, I'm not sure which ...

++ points for simplicity and clean design

Thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely consider adding a first-bookmarker note onto the general list(s).
