Hi, not really a web design question, but I need to be able to play MP4 video's taken from a mobile, I can't believe that media player doesn't support this. would Realplayer be a suitable player ? - I think that I used this on a previous computer but I can't find a good source on the internet from which to download a version that isn't limited or requiring to buy it.

Can anyone reccomend a suitable site to get this from ?

MP4 is a container format (has audio and video files of various formats inside) and could play on a number of media players including QuickTime, DivX, and Windows Media Player. The problem is that since it’s just a container for audio and video, without your player have the correct codec to decode what’s inside the MP4, it still won’t work. Unfortunately, there’s no label on the top that tells you up front which codec the video file was compressed with. So it’s more of an issues of finding out the correct codec to decode and play the MP4 than it is finding the right player.
But give QuickTime or DivX a try and if it doesn’t play, allow it to search for correct codec. Then player will work.
