Hey anyone know where i can get a copy of the iexplore.exe verison 5, It can be 5.0 5.3 5.5 whatever, it just needs to be version 5 something. The reason is, I know it is reading some of my code differently from ie6 mozilla and opera and I need to get this to work on it. The reason I am so concerned about ie 5 is because this is a site for wfrp (free radio paxon) a school club, and we will have quite a bit of traffic from school computers and they are running windows 98 and ie 5 (some have ie6 but most have ie5). So my traffic looks like 40 x 40 x 10. 40% is5, 40% ie6, 10% other.

Ok this sucks, I can't put ie 5 on this computer unless I get rid of ie6. If I get rid of ie6 that means Ill have to put it back later and go back and fourth just to view my site on both. What a pain in the butt! I wish I could just install ie5.5 and ie6 at the same time. Like you can run ie6 and ie6.2 or whatever at the same time, why can ms do this with all version of ie! Ok I am going to upload my files in a minuit after I match up the colors, so I am depending on an ie5 user to look at it and tell me if it is all aligned! Any one wanna help me out? http://knights.europe.webmatrixhosting.net/wfrp/index.html
I am convirting it to websafe colors and trying to match up image hex colors with the html hex colors as much as possible but I should have that done soon. I just want to make sure it is aligned in ie 5.5

Hey I got my colors matched up pretty close atleast, ie 5.5 displays colors much like opera and mozilla so I just compared htem to ie6. Ie6 displays the courners just a hair darker then the rest of the page while the other browsers display it a hair lighter. I tried my best to use web safe colors, well non dithering, etc. But I think I got it close enough where it will not be noticed by anyone unless they get right up next to the screen like I did. What do you think of my layout and colors, the site isnt finished, obviosuly, but this is what it should look like when it is done

Get a MAC and Virtual PC and you can have as many versions of IE as you want.

If you are using IE you might want to look at this.

just because macs use risc processors and are crap for gaming does not mean microsoft sucks. You know its really easy to clear your internet history with ie, all you have to do is go to that temp directory and start deleting. C:\Documents and Settings\[usernamehere]\Local Settings
That gives you your temp internet files your temp and your history. Or you can just click the clear history button in ie to simply kill your history (though it doesnt get the temp files). The person who made this site obviously gets frustrated easily because they cant figure out the relativly straight forward file system that windows uses. BTW virtual pc is lame, the emulation lag really kills its functionality, I don't think I would ever use a mac by choice. You are not going to convince me to suddenly stop using ms products including windows w/ little links about 'how bad ms sucks'. I use asp.net am using xp pro at home and am running an nt server off of this comp and will be running one dedicated soon from another pc. Internet explorer may not handle css the way I would like it to but that does not make me hate ms.

I think it's a nice layout, and valid, but it's kinda simple. hope it gets better as you add content to it! great start though. (Im making a layout as well, but mine's a flash version... the site has a basic version for those who do not wish to use flash/are disabled, and a flash version for those who like the benefits of using flash(smooth interaction with no reloading of pages).

See It Here (http://xaxei.europe.webmatrixhosting.net/base.swf)

It is compatable with 640x480 screen sizes(readable text at that size)

The nice thing about my flash layout, is that it will resemble CSS in that you can change the font(limited ones you can change to) and change the layout(again, only 5 styles) and change colors(4 seperate color schemes).

This example just shows my lovely navigation bar on the left(350 unique frames.... more than 30 pages of actionscript... took me an hour, but it looks GOOD.) Working on the font changing and page system atm. (so i can add content)
