I have a site and I am trying to keep it nice and tidy by archiving old stories in a different page. The problem with this is anything that has been indexed will probably point to the main page incorrectly until the spiders have a chance to recrawl it.

I would like to figure out a way to include\embed the news into the main page with it retaining its proper url so the search engines will always have the right url even when i archive the news stories.

I don't know if this is even possible. The best solution I have come up with so far is to use an iframe and have the news in its own url and then embed it in an iframe. You can see it at my site http://www.recordingjunkie.com

unfortunately i don't think the spiders can see it this way. I ran a spider emulator and it doesnt see the iframe at all. will this still get indexed as it is embedded? or do i need to provide another link to it somehow? or will a sitemap be sufficient?

Thanks for the help :)

I doubt this is relevant, and I'm probably going to sound like an utter idiot, but it's the only thing I can think of.

Could you keep everything in a sitemap so the crawlers can get to it?

well the sitemap is about as good a solution as i can come up with as well. i do have a sitemap, but then the links from the search engine point to my news content without the sitewrapper with the navigation and design stuff.
