I created a slideshow using Flash Slideshow Maker Pro. I uploaded the images into the program as is. I didn't make any adjustments to them. When viewed in the slideshow, they have that "stretched" look to them, plus they don't even fill the entire screen. If I were to resize the images to fill the screen, they'll look even more stretched and blurry.

I've seen numerous slideshows where the images fill the slideshow screen perfectly, and the images didn't have a stretched or scrunched look. How do I accomplish this since each .gif and .jpg image is not "created equal"?

Here's a link to my slideshow: http://goken68.brinkster.net/kenalbum.swf

The images shown in the slide show in the link above are very small images. Looks like the dimensions there are set to about 320 X 240 pixels.
To test this, empty your temp Internet cache, load the page linked above, go to cache, find kenalbum.swf and copy to desktop and open. Quality is fair, native resolution is about 320 X 240. File size is only 281kb for all the photos. That means each of the photos only average 28k each....very small images. One high quality image to fill even half the monitor screen could easily reach 300kb+. Those small images displayed out over any larger area and the quality deteriorated quickly.
The reason some don't fill the space completely is because they have a different aspect (width to height) ratio than the slide show player. For example, if the player is 320 X 240, you have a 4:3 aspect ratio. A square photo has an aspect ratio of 1:1. To view in the player, it has to use a height that fits (240) so maintaining the 1:1 ratio of the image the width would also be 240, with black space showing on both sides. A ratio that is wider than tall, say 5:3, would display at 320 wide and only 192 high, leaving black space above and below the image.
Check the display option of the player to fix these issues. If player will not stretch, shrink for diff sizes, you'll have to crop all photos to same aspect ratio.
