Hi Everyone

I'm Oren Todoros, Co-Founder of HYPick.com which was launched about 2 weeks ago. I'd appreciate your comments and reviews on the look and usability of HYPick.

Let me give you a little back story on what HYPick's all about.

HYPick is an easy way to post and share information with others on various subjects such as News, Health, Tech, Sports, Style, Showbiz and some of the Not Safe For Work stuff. You can even jump straight into the Random topics and have your say on just about anything that’s on your mind. The most active topics get featured on HYPick’s homepage. No good vote, bad vote system, just real people participation! The HYPick community decides what the top stories are, we just let it happen.

Please visit HYPick.com and give me your thoughts?

The header looks way too tall (FF3 on Mac), you should be able to squash the login form a bit so it takes only two lines instead of six.

It would look better to fill the empty space in some of those categories, too, so the site doesn't look deserted.

Hi conanite Thanks for your Feedback... One of the styles I was going for is the big header type of look, sort of like there is on / was Pownce.com

But maybe in future version, It might need to be slimmed down.
Also as far as content. Since it's based on a participation / timing system then older content gets pushed down into the categories, viewable by clicking on any of the category header links. It's sort of a catch22, Showing new content while keeping the site full of information. It's an uphill climb right now but once users start submitting new content then it will build up on it's on.

I really believe that HYPick is a strong solution to an audience that's had enough of Digg.

so it's a kind of chicken-and-egg situation, kind of like nobody goes into an empty restaurant.

How does HYPick compare to reddit, apart from the voting system? Your categories seem to be static and predetermined, can users create new categories?

As conanite said, its similar to other sites where it seems to list "popular" third-party sites. In order for that to stay interesting (with little work on your side) you'll need users to submit into your categories. If you try to manage the content it will become a nightmare.

The design is good but needs some small changes to margins, image ratios and layout spaces IMO.

This looks like another site that was submitted a few weeks ago.
