Hi Folks

My friend has the following website up and running http://www.bathandbodyworks.co.uk/ . He doesn't feel completely happy with the site but isn't sure what the problem is. I suggested that a more comprehensive layout would help.

If anyone has any comments on any aspect of this site, we would appreciate hearing from you?

Best regards

Catherine

It seems to be pretty nice. He/she should fix the HTML errors, found by W3C validation. (Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "a more comprehensive layout".)

Wow, the site was better than I expected it to look.

(1) Off-the-bat, I'd suggest a wider template. Things feel a bit squished.

(2) I feel like the colors of your left-navigation could be a bit bolder.

(3) You should remove the offer of "Free Samples" since you don't actually have any...

(4) Maybe hire a graphic designer for a new logo. It's just a bit too plain, and it would really add some depth to the page header.

Otherwise, you (or your friend) did a nice job!

I must disagree with my colleagues and agree with your client.

The site doesn't work.

The first thing that struck me was that at first glance, it reminded me too much of those generic adversites you get when you misspell a domain name. I find them intrusive and a little creepy.

The site looks like it's just an off-the-shelf shopping cart template, and I just felt like there was something missing. (If I think of what that "something" is, I'll come back and post again.)

Web design is about providing a reason for people to visit a site. That reason ISN'T shopping. They can shop anywhere. You want them to shop here, and you get them to do that by crafting a site that's unique, has some interesting content, has some dazzling graphics, or is just a happy place to be. Your site has none of those things.

It's a good designed site! I can't find any an evident tribble.

Congrats for the website...
Technically, don't change anything!
But, listen, your website has no spirit and you're not telling your customers what do to, where to go. Customers need to be guided otherwise they need to start thinking by themselves and they all hate it!

So, here are my suggestions:
1. Tell your customers why they should shop on your website (cheapest price, better products, whatever).
2. Tell them who it is designed for! Then they'll know if it might be of interest to them.
3. Remove the huge picture; that can look good but it's not going to boost your sales. You're not DIOR, CHANEL...
4. You have Discounts, Offers, don't hide them in the menu, put them right on top of your website!!! If you're giving up discounts, it's because you want to increase your sales, so GO FOR IT!!!
5. I agree with previous comments, your website looks like those "fake websites" you reach by mistake. Change it to white bg and reduce the height of the items in your menu. Last thing, everything looks too plain, go check facebook to see how they made it look alright even while using plain colors.

Good luck!
