--Hello all, I'd like to state this is not an advertisement.--

Jetaudio is a new kind of media player that handles DVDs, CDs, MP3, wav, the works. It also has a broadcasting feature that allows you to turn your computer into a "RadioStation". You can broadcast your songs to anybody who tunes into you on their website. You download a small(100 byte)file that contains the IP + port of the radio on the persons computer. You don't get the files all at one time and then they play, they buffer and i guess it's called streaming cause you only keep 10 seconds of the song in the program's cache at any given time. So it's not filesharing.

BUT, it is still giving away the music and i know radio stations have to pay royalties and stuff.... so wouldn't this be the same? I use it because at the moment, it's legal.

BTW, http://www.jetaudio.com is where you download it and it I like... just not for playing my movies. only for my music. It's like winamp except you have a lot more controls(change the pitch of the song very easily) and it's a lot better looking.

I prefer winamp shoutcast to any other webradio applications. It can be embedded in media player on your website etc, it is very nice. You can have the song title artist etc display above the player and all and I plan on using 3 servers to run one of these on my wfrp site. We are a real radio station but the comp that runs the broadcast will send the files directly over the net to my server and mine will send it to two of my friends servers so the actual comp playing the music will have very little stress and not take up too much of the network recources until we can get the ok to run a server from our t1. Basically our live on the air broadcasts are being mirrored by 3 servers and played over the net so people can listen from out site.
