Launching own website... looking for host

Hi

I am a Java developer, with some experience in UI. I am trying to launch my own site where I can host some of my applications. This will help me in jobsearch and also as help to beginners.

Basically, I like to know is this a right step if I am a developer working in Spring Struts and Hibernate, Flex? If yes, which webhosting company shall i go with that supports these kind of webapplications? I am looking for something cheaper.

Please help me in this regard.
