How do I log off?

Go to the Forum homepage (by clicking on the 'Web Developer Forum' link in the breadcrumbs).

Then, at the foot of the list of forums there is a minute link saying 'log out'. That's my guess.

breadcrumbs - is it just me that uses this term?

Hehe I think it must be, I've never heard of it. What's breadcrumbs anway? The Links up the top that say "Web Developer Forum > Feedback > ..."?

Oh, I see it now, thanks. But I do wish people would stop using such tiny fonts.

You don't need to logoff -- the advantage of not loggin off is that when you come back, you will be immediately recognized.

Hardly anyone uses the Log Off -- which is why it's in such an inconspicuous place.

Breadcrumb trail is the term for a hierarchical display of sections that a lot of websites use. You put them above the page content to help people navigate back (like chickens back to the hen house).

For the forums, the breadcrbum trail is
Home page > Section > Thread name.

A lot of sites use it with their index page and content sections.

Just like in Hansel and Gretl, so you know how to get back to where you came from !

I picked it up when I worked on PeopleSoft's web platform.

Ah right I see. I think Charles probably logs-off for security reasons, or if people are usings the same PC as him.

Yes, if you share a PC, that is the only reason I know of that you would need to log off.

I often use several different PCs a day and sometimes the one's at the public library.

I never noticed the logout button before.
