Scripts don't work on Mac?

Hi all
I am working with dreamweaver MX on a Mac platform... trying to password protect pages using Java Script... I have cut and pasted to no avail...the page has an empty space where the java script is!
Any suggestions?
I am a VERY amaateru user! So please excuse my ignorance and please keep hints simple!

it might not be the exact answer to you r question,however,I think you should not use JavaScript to password protect your website anyways,its a fruitless effort.(JavaScript can not achieve this,you are better of using server side langauages to be better password protected)
