addmenu() How To

I was woundering if anyone can tell me how to use the addmenu() function to add a simple menu to my webpage.

All I want is a menu with maybe 4 columns and a couple options under each option. But I want to learn how to use the addmenu() function to do it, for the sake of learning.

Can it be done, is there a better way?
