i make an illustrator image made of white and grey lines. This grey has hex #666666. I save it as a png and then the colour changes from #666666 to something else. Is there a way i can stop the change from happening. I have a background fill of #666666 around my webpage and i want the image im making to seem it flows from the background into the page. I just cant seem to get it to do it cuz the colour changes. how do i retain the colour?

The reason it's doing this is because of your color settings EDIT>COLOR SETTINGS. Are you working in CMYK? When you do a Save for web and devices it typically tries to convert to the working color space. You can uncheck this in the little option dropdown in this dialog box (there are two of these awkwardly placed in the dialog window on the top right side)

If you intend to work for web in Illustrator (or in CorelDraw, or even straight in Photoshop) you must be sure you do it in a RBG color mode. CMYK mode should be used only for printing issues.
