I'm talking about working for an actual IT department, not freelance stuff (which I could probably get away charging more since there is no middle man.)
Pretty much my only real experience is working on some sites on my own, and my current job I have been at for about 2 years. So I guess I'm lower level? 2-3 years of experience?
I work about 20-25 hours a week as pretty much the sole web programmer/developer at this place. Though I'm not much of a DESIGNER, most of our stuff is internal... lots of dynamic reports, report generators, yada yada. I program very well (I think?) and there hasn't been a single request yet I haven't figured out.
Just curious. I know the economy is terrible and maybe I should just be happy that I have a job period, but I'm pretty certain I'm very underpaid next to similar level people in this field. I haven't really tried shopping around much since I wanted to get some experience I could put on a resume, but now that I have a few years behind me I wonder if there is much better out there that someone in my position could be working instead.
PS. I don't actually want to work freelance... yet. And I prefer working part-time as I have some other things going on right now. Just curious as to what other corporate monkeys are making.
