i have crappy aol at my house, and i am wondering why, whenever i try to save files it will only let me save as
".art" and as ".bmp" every time i need to save a picture i have to take a stupid screenshot and mess with it in adobe. anyone have any info on this?

This would only be a workaround, but try connecting with AOL, minimizing it, then using a dedicated web browser.
Another thought... Install a graphics program, like Irfanview. Then, when you open an image, it will open in Irfanview & save properly.

Nothing wrong with bmp at all, and I think art is just aol's proprietary bmp wrapper.
Save them as bmp's, open them in Adobe(phtoshop?) then save them in any format you want!
Btw, next time you go online, minimize AOL and browse with Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org)
