How to add forum?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to add a forum to a webpage.

You will need to use server-side script - perhaps someone else can tell you the basics because I'm a novice to server-side stuff, but I can get you started

Have you got your site online yet, or are you just planning/thinking/pondering etc?

If you have a web host for your site, they might provide you with a message board so you don't have to do all the scripting for you. However, some other web hosts don't allow server-side scripting at all, making a message board impossible.

Tell me a little more about how far you've got, then maybe someone else with a little more intelligence than me ;) could help!

If you want one that's already made, run a search. You should find a bunch. Some of the common PHP-based boards are vBulletin (what this forum uses), phpBB, and InvisionBoard. You could also use ASP, ASP.NET, CF, or Perl to make a forum, but if PHP is supported, use it. In my opinion (and many others') it is the best server-side scripting/programming language.
