Increment hits for Flash Ads

My company is currently using an Ad Manager for the website. It is a news website, however the ad manager currently doesnt support flash ads. I want to write something custom for it, but is there a script that i can see that can increment the hits per click?....i really donno where to start on that.

Wouldn't the hits per click just be monitored by sending the users to a unique url and then tallying the hits to that url?

how can i send it to a link if a link is already embedded in the swf? is there a way to overlay a link on a flash swf ad using a code?

You might be able to, but my initial thought is that doing this would overwrite the default command so basically it would just track, but not go anywhere
