Hey guys,
I am trying to add an image as my background (making it in Photoshop and coreldraw) and I was wondering if anyone knew the dimensions of a regular webpage, like width. I know height is based on the content, but width is more measurable isn't it? How do some of the professional looking sites make an image that fits perfectly into the backround?

Any insight would be appreciated!

I think you should keep your image pixel density to 1024x768 and see that it fits properly in your website design and it is cross-browser friendly.

but 1024x768 this size is seo friendly.
this size can take time for load a web page.

If you are designing for cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, I suggest making a page that is no longer than 800px. Though most monitors are 1000px or greater, many are still using 800x600 monitor resolutions. Very few (a negligible amount) are using 640x480.

If you design a page larger than 800px, the viewer will be forced to scroll left and right to see your page if the resolution is only 800px wide.

960 grid system is quickly becoming the defacto standard for modern web design. Visit the following link to learn more about it and to download templates which would assist you in developing web pages using this system.
