buttons alignment

I am building a web page using a navigation frame on the left. i have a navigation bar & want to position it in the center of the screen vertically no matter what size the monitor is. i need the nav bar to stay in the center of the left frame vertically but when i put it there now by padding it out with transparent gifs & line breaks on my monitor, when i look at it on a smaller monitor it is off the bottom of the page. is it at all possible to overcome this?

if your familiar with the screen.width function then you could try frame.width not sure if it works but simple and worth a try

alternativly you could use css to position the menu
