I like to build my systems custom, and, but, as much as I love to code and learn new things at the same time, that can get quite labour intensive. I am building a new site and I want to have a blog on it - but only on part of the home page, the rest of the home page will consist of other things that can be controlled through a custom built CMS. What I'm looking for is kind of like the classical greymatter blog, something that has it's own administration area but can be inserted into any page on the site simply by adding a single line of code to the HTML.
I'll admit I haven't really checked out wordpress or the other very capable blogs at opensourcecms.com yet, but maybe someone can tell me right away if they know of one that suits my needs. I want the blog to be basically what wordpress offers with comments and archives and categories and search, etc, but I just don't know if wordpress has to be "the site" or if it can be included in part of a site.
Just throwing it out there, any replies are appreciated. I'm heading over to opensourcecms.org to see what I can find out.
