Just recently created a personal site and thought I'd ask for some comments on it. I originally began creating the site as I wanted something to be able to show all the people who say that it is impossible to create sites with valid (X)HTML and CSS that look good (and yes, I do know about Zen Gardens... :D). What I came up with was http://www.ryanbrill.com. I decided to add a blog to it, though who knows if anyone will read it... Anyway, take a look at the site, and let me know what you think, either aesthetically, or programmatically, depending on how you look at things.

Are you saying my site doesn't look good? :p I do need to switch back from my Halloween colors, but anyway. When I first looked at your site I immediately thought of ALA's new layout because your's borrows heavily from it. Not that it's a bad thing. The logo fits perfectly for what you are going for too. Nice job.

Lol... Yeah, got the idea for the background color from ALA, most of the rest came from other sites on the internet (which also look like ALA, or vice versa. ;)) or long hours in PSP/Firworks. Glad you liked it. :)

I did not care about the fixed width.
Missing <h1>
Also menu and footer break out when font size is increased.
Here is advice:
- specify width of "subnav" and nav li in em - then they will scale nicely with the font size.
- use float for the top menu and allow it to form two lines when the page width is narrow - way friendlier than horizontal scroll.

It seems a reasonable site and I assume you know, you are breaking the W3C Icon usage agreement by incorporating their logo into another design.

Though I don't think in whole honesty the W3C are too concerned with such actions.

Also, thanks for the suggestions, Vladdy. I'm working through them right now, seeing what I can do. :)

http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/logo-usage-20000308.html but I am sure they will let you because it's a sub "grey area" though technically that is what it means.
