Anyone recommend a good book for PHP & MYSQL? Choice is anything on amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/ix=books-uk&rank=%2Bavail-sales-rank&fqp=keywords%01PHP%20MySQL&nsp=bq%011&sz=10&pg=1/202-9845607-7391046

or import Kevin Yanks book 'Build Your Own Database Driven Website Using PHP & MySQL'

Preferably about the £30 mark (naturally I'm happy to go lower :D )

Cheers

Dave

I've got two books on PHP, PHP for the World Wide Web, and PHP Advanced for the World Wide Web. They are decent books, but a bit outdated, and you'd have to do things a bit differently than the examples in the book for them to work on a default install. (Think register_globals (http://www.webdevfaqs.com/php.php#globalvariables) ;)). The first book I mentioned is the one I used when I was learning, and seems to present the basics fairly well.

I've heard good things about this book, bue haven't had the chance to read it:

Above all, I'd recommend the manual (http://www.php.net/manual/en/) at php.net.

Thanks Pyro. I'm ordering it now - let's face it, any book about php & MYSQL knows more than I do LOL!

Lol... ok, let me know how it is, once you've had some time to read it. :)

Well it arrived today and it's about 6 inches thick... LOL It looks good anyway. It's referenced to actual business type examples all the way through - and it includes a php crash course LOL.

I'll let you know what happens on page 2 tomorrow LOL :D

Lol... yeah, let me know. I'd like to read it, eventually, but for now, other books have the precedence. :)
