Stand alone vs web application

Hello Friends,

I developed a web application and its hosted in my wasce server. I am planning to develop a small java stand alone application that can communicate with the wasce server using same UID/passwrd. So that I can monitor who all are using the other web application.

I used struts+hibernate for developing the web application. Can any one help me on this , that how can I make it possible? Do I need to use any web service for their communication? Or is there any other way to do it?
