Problems with frontpage and javascript

hi guys i keep trying to add in javascript to some of my pages on frontpage and the code for it just appears red and doesnt work? ive checked to see if ive got javascript enabled in the page options and it is so i dont know whats wrong??

can anyone help?

also does anyone know how to use cgi scripts in fp2000
