how can i advertise my website?

I have recently designed a website that has been live for only a short while. Everywhere I look to advertise i have to either pay a small sum of money or put a link on my website from where ever I put an advertisement.

So my question is how do I advertise without having to do either of those? Any and all help is much appreciated.

If you have the budget, I would recommend setting up a pay per click campaign with Google, Yahoo and MSN. This will get you instant exposure and traffic. If you lots of time and no budget, then work on your organic search ranking by building links into your website.

Craigslist has a free services section...it's pretty popular. But you'd have to got back in every few days to redo your ad.
