Hi all.

I'm trying to figure out why the fonts on my websites are not as clean and crisp and the fonts on everyone elses websites.

I'm pretty much using standard Arial for just about everything, but notice jagged edges and generally poor quality. If I switch to verdana, the small text improves, but anything over 12pt starts to break up again.

If it makes a difference, I use FrontPage to create the site.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Use a more image-dedicated program like Macromedia Fireworks.

So... do text editing with a graphics program?

I assumed because you posted within the graphics section you were referring to text clarity within your images.

Do you have a link Chestertb? (to your site that is!)

Hi all.

I am referring to text quality, period. The text within the images, created in PhotoShop, is just fine. It is the plain old text that causes problems.

Go to www.hostyourhotel.com, or www.sapphiremarine.com and you'll see what I mean.

In the HostYourHotel site, the menu tree text is gif files and they're fine. Click on any of the menu items and the site loads an iframe on the right where, for speed, I try and stick to plain text, which is Arial 10pt, 12pt or 14pt.

In the Sapphire Marine where I used innerHTML to swap preloaded plain text on mousover.

In both, you'll see what I mean about font quality. Maybe that's normal, but I don't think so.

Thanks for the assistance.

Hmm thay actually look normal to me, but perhaps thats because I've been staring at the screen for too long...

Could you make a screenshot? See if we're seeing the same as you?
I like the graphiocs on the saphire marine site BTW.

It's easy to see what he's talking about if you hover on the Contact Us image on the Saphire Marine site. The capital M on the text that appears shows it clearly.

There is nothing wrong for browser viewing with those fonts, it can only be the sizes themselves.

Thanks all.

Appreciate the feedback. I'll weigh up the quality v speed thing and decide whether or not to switch to images.
