When you finally get good enough to make sites for other people what kind of questions and things do you need to ask and find out from them?

When you are good enough to make sites for other people then you will know the questions to ask. That's how you will know that you are ready.

I ask them what their expectation is for their site...is it realistic? I ask them to show me a site that they really like, and ask aspects what they specifically like about it...color scheme, menus, size etc. I also ask them to describe the optimal path a visitor would take while browsing through their site...where do they want to steer their attention. What would your site look like in a perfect world? Should it be interactive or static or both? Do they understand the importance of accessibility, semantic code...do they care? Just put yourself in their shoes if you were asking someone to create one for you...I am sure you'll come up with a bunch more.
