Google SEO and page redirection

Hi there,

We have a new version of our Chinese language site and we want to take links to the old site and redirect them to it. It is the same domain - just under a different folder... Will this upset google? I really have no experience with this stuff and have no idea where to look - as a matter of fact I am not even sure I am posting in the right forum.

Any advice would be great.

This is perfectly fine for you to be changing the site. Website's change over time and Google is not going to penalize you for this as long as you setup 301 redirects.

You want to make sure to use mod_rewrite to redirect an old domain to an new one.
