I have just started using Perl, so I am definitely another newbie. I think that my hosting has a problem in running my scripts. Basically what has happened is that I had a script installed for me 3 weeks ago. I have also installed another script myself, on another domain, which was successful.

Yesterday they both stopped working. I have not "played" with them or anything like that. I am afraid it’s the usual thing the programmer says that there is nothing wrong with the script and the hosting company says there is nothing wrong with their hosting and is a CHMOD problem. Both these scripts have been bought and are returning a 500 Server error. I also run PHP scripts on the same server, different domains, with no problems.

Now I know its easy to say the hosting is no good and change, but I have been down that road 3 times this year and quite frankly am getting a bit sick of it. My question (finally!) Is there any programs that I can run on the server to prove one way or the other that the hosting is at fault? Actually they seem to be a reasonable company and if I can say look here is proof I am sure they will do something. I do not have telnet access as far as I am aware.

Any help, or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated!
