How I can show my CD drive?

I lose my CD drive icon.

Can anyone tell me how i can show my CD drive.

Do this:

1. Right click MY COMPUTER
2. Properties
3. Hardware
4. device manager

Do you have anything on there with yellow exclamation marks next to it?

If so it/they might be your problem. See if you can reinstall it/them.

Have you had your hands inside the PC case? Like installing stuff? If so, have you checked your not losened any connectors?

I could tell you about my Windows XP that stopped recognising the DVD-RW I had but would under a different install of XP on the same machine.

IMHO, if the problem is not physical, it sounds verymuch like my Windows XP that worked fine for 10 years and then just stops working and complains it needs to go online, which was a joke as it did not recognise my modem.

The joke of it all is that all the things that were ceasing to work on the windows install, when I wiped it, put Linux on, everything worked, even stuff I thought was broken.

So it raises the question, why are Microsoft purposely knobbling its own product and especially so close after being given the all clear by the anti-trust investigation team.

So how old is your XP install, how old is the Drive thats not being recognised? When did you install SP3 from M$ or any update?
