I set the container to height:100%; and it did nothing. can anyone see why please?

easy...

in your html your container is inside GRADIENT and gradient has NO DEFINED HEIGHT ... so 100% of nothing = nothing ... set an height to your gradient and it will work

<div id="adspace1">
</div>
<div id="container">

actualy gradient was something i did a long time ago. i can just delete that and put it in the html background.
