Drift image slowly acrossWEB page

I would like to be able to have two images (cloud.gif, and animated (randomly flashing) lightning.gif) start off of the right side of the page, slowly appear and drift across the page, disappearing off the left side of the page. The transition time across the page should be 15 to 20 seconds. The event should repeat after some delay. I have a cloud and lightning working in a fixed position on the page, but do not know how to begin to get them to drift across the page.

As I am a beginner, example code using any single image demo, would be greatly appreciated.

After seeing your code --- Good advice!!
I did not expect this to be so difficult. This obviously took you some time to do. I really do appreciate your effort and the timely response. The demo does exactly what I wanted. Now I look forward to adapting it to work with my two images..

I have monitored this site for only a short time since becoming interested in Javascript.
I marvel at the time everyone takes to help others.
