adding video tag

on my site I have video being added through swfobject or embed tags. I was wondering, for semantic purposes, would it hurt to wrap the video in "video" tags? would this negatively affect older browsers that don't support HTML 5?

yes but you can use javascript to set a the video tag to be properly recognised by the any browser unless they have javascript turned of.
