Hi,
there is a Google keyword generator. I have read that Google does not use Keywords to rank sites. So what is the need for the Google keyword generator? Does Google search require appropriate keywords so that it can categorise a site. And then it may use number of links to the site to rank it?
So if two site have the same keywords then they would both be categorised the same but ranked differently depending on other factors?

Yes
other factors like, number of backlinks, quality of backlinks, backlinks from different IPs......

Except that Google isn't paying attention to the key words in your meta description, it's reading the text of the page. If your page is all images or all Ajax then your page is blank to Google.

It was surprising for me to know this... So, as I can understand Google doesn't pay any attention to title keywords also. Am I right?

It is not like that Google didn't pay attention to keyword ...Google will pay attention to it require it is use in your website properly and second thing is the backlink which is count most in the eye of Google

Google does not need the keyword meta tag and they state it is ignored.
I believe they use it as a spam indicator and still verify against page content.

Google still reads the meta description and use it in the organic results for as long as it relates to the content of the page in questions. The keywords meta tags is no longer reliable because of keywords stuffing. If you have a list of keywords or keyphrases use them in the page content instead.
Google keyword generator is a valuable tool to find keyphrases you haven't thought about and it also help you determine the popularity of keywords.
In the end it's the quality/content of your web pages that matter and your effort in building backlinks with target anchor text.
