hello.

i'm totally new to this and i'm building a new "cultural" site.

i would like to have music from the target culture available on the site for visitors to listen to while visiting or for them to just have running while working.

so its not just background music but a music player with a decent library of music i will be providing in mp3 or whatever format will work.

any idea what tool or software i can use for this?

thanks
Nuvie

Well OK, I'll throw in my 2 cents worth....
First, be sure you are not breaking any laws by playing copyrighted music. As your site grows it will draw more and more attention and could possibly be the target of a lawsuit unless you cover this aspect of the business.
Second, as far a tool to play the mp3s, my advice is to create (or have someone create) a custom Flash player designed to fit into the overall appearance of your site. This is a pretty easy task and any Flash person with a medium skill level could do this. Create a player that uses an xml file as a playlist, that makes it very easy and non-technical to edit or update the playlist. Google "Flash xml mp3 player" for more info.
Here's a couple of example of custom players:

Creating your own rather than using a downloaded version will add a unique touch to your site that will make it a more memorable visit for your visitors.
