I recently encountered a problem in FireFox where on some sites I get a warning window which says "FireFox encountered an unexpected problem and needs to close" but it is in a microsoft error window.
I clicked on details and here is what I got:
AppName: firefox.exe AppVer: 1.9.1.3462 ModName: msvcr80.dll ModVer: 8.0.50727.762 Offset: 0004ef67
I had assumed it was the newer versions of FireFox and downgraded to a previous version but the issue still remains. I have no malware or viruses, Java is updated and I did nothing to my computer. I can't get any help on the Mozilla site and others seem to be having a similar issue. So is it one of the add ons? Right now I have Adblock Plus and NoScript.
In fact it COULD be one of the recent upgrades to NoScript but I am not sure if I can get an older version of it. Thanks but I would really appreciate help this time instead of being ignored. I know I ask a lot of questions that seem stupid to you but that cannot be helped.

That is going to be either a firefox issue or a plugin issue, like for flash or java. This would not be the correct place to ask for help on that, rather go file a bug report at mozilla.com (firefox's website).

Yes I know however I already asked...twice about this issue and have gotten no answer so I am asking here because maybe someone has a similar issue and can help me.
Thanks.

That's what I'm trying to say though. We don't have any resources here to help you out. The problem is with the software Firefox, and not with a specific website or dealing with web developing. It is possible that somebody here has had a similar issue, but you will get much farther if you submit a defect report with Mozilla. Also make sure that you have upgraded your browser to the latest version, if you haven't already. If you are running an old browser then they won't support you either. That's business.

Yes..I already did but have gotten no response. I suppose I am going to have to disable all my plugins and see what one is the culprit. It'll be a pain but since there is no help..I will see what happens.
What boggles me is that I did no updating except for NoScript and Adblock and of course FF but I assumed it was a FF issue so I downgraded but when I allow pages like Yahoo Weather then I get the weird message.
I updated my Java so that isn't the issue but..thanks anyways.

Going through the process of disabling and re-enabling each of your plugins is a good way to figure out where the problem truly lies. Testing to figure out where the problem really is is something you should have done first, especially if you have several plugins.

I disabled all the plugins and still got the problem
BUT I found the folder that the error window mentions and it lies here;
C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_6b128700 with the file msvcr80.dll being the culprit.
So that extension is causing the issue but now I do not know what to do next. I doubt I can just delete it. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Stuff this in to a search engine
WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT
and find plenty of others having your problem.

Thanks. But the problem still remains o how to fix it. I read some of what the searc engine brought up but I did not see any suggestions and since I am not a programmer, I do not want to mess up my computer.
Thanks though.

Thats the point though. They haven't, so your unfortunately going to have to wind the clock back or live with it.
Try installing another browser like Opera, for example.

..."wind back the clock"?????
Well..I guess I might try Opera thought the last time I had it it wouldn't go to any pages.
But anyways..thanks for the help

Try completely uninstalling FF including all user settings. Restart your computer. Then download and install the latest version. Restart your computer again. Then try to use FF without any plug-ins to see if it works. If it does install each plug-in you wish to use one at a time until it breaks. Then remove that plug-in.
Have you tried the options in this thread (http://www.techsupportforum.com/alternative-computing/mozilla-firefox-browsers/270580-solved-firefox-3-msvcr80-dll-crash.html)?

Thanks Jick
The problem was with the AVG Safe Search. I disabled that and went to some sites like Yahoo Weather, selected "Allow All This Page" in NoScript and it works. I never would have thought the issue to be that.
Strangely in the older versions of FireFox, even before 3.5 I had no trouble but the newer versions had conflicts.
Anyways after all the stuff I tried I was about ready to switch browsers but now I don't have to. Thanks again.
Criterion..I did not mean to ignore you. I did indeed try a clean install. I unistalled FF even deleting the Mozilla folder from the program folder then reinstalled FF. Still the same issue, I did try disabling all the add-ons but the issue still existed.
The problem was with the AVG extension which is different from add-ons.
I may have to go to the Mozilla Support forum and post the result of what I did.
Cool! I'm glad you got it figured out. It's funny how it always seems to be something you'd never think could be the problem. :p

That's for sure. Like I said, in the earlier versions of FireFox like 3.0 there was no problem but whatever. Again I thank you for the link you provided. After all the other stuff I tried I was about to use Opera which doesn't seem to be as nicely featured as FF.
I realized something had to be up since the error report window was a microsoft one instead of the FireFox report window. But never could figure it out.
Anyways I am rambling. The solution was easier than I anticipated.
